Assassins and the Buddha

That’s right, assassins and the Buddha.  They kept me company on this sabbatical while I recovered from an amazing flu.

The flu sent me to the ER.  An IV of Electrolytes, a check up, reassurance then home.  The whole thing from onset of symptoms to home in bed was over in three or four hours.  Woof.

I took walks, rested and read – The Way of Shadows (The Night Angel Trilogy) by Brent Weeks.  For Durzo Blint, assassination is an art-and he is the city’s most accomplished artist…”

What more could you ask for?  Well, you could ask for Old Path White Clouds: Walking in the Footsteps of the BuddhaI’m on my third time through this gentle landscape.  Hanh, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, has drawn from 24 Pali, Sanskrit, and Chinese sources to create this highly accessible retelling of the story of the Buddha.”

That’s cool, but what is more useful is that Hahn is a living Buddha, so his spirit flows through every page.  It can heal your soul.  Calm your heart.

At velocity, a brown pelican skimmed the surface of Elliot Bay across the street last week.  She was blown miles away from the Pacific Coast where they dwell.

All this means it’s winter.  It is an excellent time for you to go inside and plan for the spring.  Ask big questions.  Love your life.
