Strong Women and the Sacred Ordinary

Rarely, do I want to watch a film again right after I have seen it.  I have two for you that fit that bill.  They feature strong women and reveal and celebrate the Sacred Ordinary.

First, 20 Feet from Stardom.

It won’t come as a surprise to you that I like strong women.  This film introduces you to a handful of strong women, backup singers for some of the biggest musical acts of our age.

You will hear great music and be moved by what the backup singers and the headliners  reveal.  Stevie Wonder and Sting talk in almost the say way about the spiritual journey. Fascinating. The women talk about spiritual matters throughout in inspiring ways.  Several scenes transcend the day to day while staying grounded and humble.

Wow.

Second, About Time.

“At the age of 21, Tim discovers he can travel in time and change what happens and has happened in his own life. His decision to make his world a better place by getting a girlfriend turns out not to be as easy as you might think.” From IMDB.com.

We laughed watching this and our hearts melted with the sweetness and the challenges.  So far so good, but the big deal was how well they talked about the Sacred Ordinary – the Holy magic of everyday life.

Richard Curtis, who wrote Love Actually and Notting Hill, wrote and directed About Time.  If you haven’t seen the others, I recommend them as well.

Walk in beauty,
