Think of It As a Part Time Job

She read it.  Wow.

I recommend Younger Next Year for Women: Live Strong, Fit, and Sexy – Until You’re 80 and Beyond to a beloved client.  She read it and then as sometime happens she showed me something I didn’t get out of my three readings of the book.

To be fit and healthy and to gain the benefits of the book, you have to treat your body like the animal it is, and exercise hard.  Every day.

Think of your fitness self-care as a part time job.  That works for her and works for me.

It antidotes the poison of my complaining inner voice and attitude that says, “I shouldn’t have to spend so much time doing this.  It takes too much time.  It should happen just by itself.”

Rocks are hard.  Water is wet.  And it takes time to be healthy.

I routinely practice taiji, strength training, walking, and hiking.  I receive coaching, acupuncture, and bodywork.  They take time.

I would benefit from working with tennis balls on my pressure points and muscles.  I would benefit from more stretching.  But my complaining voice whimpers and whines.

As people age, their bodies typically go downhill.  But Younger Next Year for Women  and its companion book for men, Younger Next Year: Live Strong, Fit, and Sexy – Until You’re 80 and Beyond, and as the research indicates –

Aging isn’t the culprit – you just don’t move enough or hard enough.

When you do work hard every day, you get younger.  Look at Strong Women Stay Young.  It says the same thing.  In the author’s research, post menopausal women got biologically younger following a 12 week strength training program if memory serves.  20 years younger.

When you were a kid, you never exercised or worked out.  You just went out to play.  All day.  Recall what that play included. No wonder you felt better and stronger.

Take on this part time job and live long and prosper.

Oh, and add in some quiet time for meditation and connecting with the sacred.  OK?

Walk in beauty,

William
