Athena, a beloved patient, told me when her husband leaves town, at least one machine in their home or office will fail.  “Why?” I said.  “Because he’s a machine whisperer,” she said.  “They miss him.” “Hmmm.”  You no doubt have heard of horse whisperers, and perhaps dog whisperers, people who have a special way with these creatures.  But machines?
